With winter around the corner, it’s time to cuddle up and really make the most of being at home and indoors. As it gets colder outside, even just running to the store for a gallon of milk can be an excursion, so just thinking about making any major design choices can sound dreadful.
Thankfully, we’ve come across a few tweaks and tips that will bring a notable difference to your living spaces. Tis the season for small but exciting fall changes!
Light Up Some Magic
Bring a sense of wonder to your living space by adding some “fairy lights.” Decorative lights aren’t exclusive to Christmas. These small, twinkle lights can add a sense of magic and wonder to your space. Hang them on a window to add a warm and sparkling glow. They also look great coiled up in an unused fireplace or hung from a picture or picture frame.
A perfect setting for either morning or night, these lights are sure to transform your space into something otherworldly. You can even find lights with pumpkin- or leaf-shaped bulbs and in seasonal colors perfect for autumn.
Trade Pillows
Floral pillows and foliage decor that is associated with fall can be a bit redundant in terms of a cohesive design choice. Consider going with something with texture. Trade pillows offer a fluffy and comfy feeling to your living space. Winter whites, muted oranges and yellows can be the perfect addition to give your living room that perfect fall feeling.
Think Metallic
Gold and copper tones go perfectly with an autumn ambiance. They add a touch of warmth and luxury in what could be some very cold and rainy days. Adding a touch of shiny, reflective and decorative pieces can be all you need to transform your space into the perfect fall setting.
Copper tones work beautifully with neutral and earth-tone palettes, and you don’t need to break the bank either on large pieces. Consider a new lamp base, new lampshades or even a vase here and there.
Light a Candle
Something as simple as lighting a few candles can bring about the essence of fall. Cuddled up on the couch with a book surrounded by a cascade of candles is a profound way to unwind and truly get a sense of what fall is all about.
You don’t have to spend a ton of money on artisan candles to achieve a great candle look. Teacup candles are available at every craft store and are extremely affordable. Pair them inside old vases, candle holders or lanterns.
Just remember to always blow the candles out when you’re finished with them. What can be a beautiful and romantic evening could lead to disaster if you leave the candles unattended.
